French Green Clay, also known as Montmorillonite or Illite Clay is considered by many as a healing clay widely used for its skin healing properties. When applied to the skin, it essentially absorbs toxins and poisons that get trapped in the skin. The clay originates from France and mined directly from the earth. French Green Clay is a 100% natural bio-organic material and contains a cornucopia of valuable elements. Its coloring can range from light green to dark green with little to no odor. It’s filled with minerals and has a shelf life of 4-5 years. It is sometimes called 'marine clay' due to the quarries being found in the ancient marine beds.

The EGCG in matcha works well internally as well as externally. For example, the EGCG and catechins in matcha absorb into our facial skin and fight undesired bacteria. This helps to reduce inflammation, simultaneously evening out our skin tone.

The very high amount of antioxidants that matcha has, after all, it is the superfood that has the highest number of antioxidants in the world, help your skin battle the free radicals and prevent damage from the UV rays. That's why if you apply a matcha face mask, your skin minimizes inflammation and prevents skin damage.

Not just that, but a matcha face mask also helps you absorb better vitamin D, which is essential for your skin.

Scientists believe that bentonite clay works by adsorbing oils and dirt from the skin.

The theory is that bentonite clay adsorbs materials by sticking to their molecules or ions. As the clay leaves the body, it takes the toxin or other molecules with it.

When a person uses it on the skin, bentonite clay may have the power to adsorb oils and bacteria. When they consume the clay, it may adsorb toxins or other unwanted substances from the digestive tract.

Bentonite clay forms from volcanic ash. It gets its name from Fort Benton in Wyoming, where it occurs in large amounts. People can also find this clay in other places where volcanic ash has settled into the ground. Montmorillonite clay, named after Montmorillon in France, is the same type of clay.
